To My Fellow Veterans

My wife and I were fortunate enought to take a trip to France over the holidays, specifically Paris. I, like many tourists, had a bucket list and managed to check off each place of interest on our list. Number 1 was a visit to Normandy and Omaha Beach.

On December 26 we drove to Caen and then on to Omaha Beach and the American cemetery there. I was both stunned and overwhelmed by the memorial and rows of crosses. There are over 10,000 American soldiers buried there and the hallowed grounds are immaculate.

I stood on the bluffs over looking the beach and was in awe. The bravery of our fellow veterans coming across that beach in June 1944 cannot be overstated. One can feel only pride and amazement at what those soldiers did that day.

Inside the museum there is a statement that reads "All we ask is that you provide us enough land to bury our brothern". I can say that at Omaha Beach our fallen brothers are being given the proper respect and honor they so richly deserve.

For anyone who visits France this is a "must see."

As you may discern from the above I cannot put into proper words my experience but can assure you I will never forget visit.

Welcome Home

Thanks, Rich.

It must have been a very moving experience.

I've been to Arlington National Cemetary, and was in awe. I can't imagine walking on the actual soil on which these troops gave their lives.

Take care, and please stay in touch.

Tom
